With her joyous, energetic, and hopeful approach to gospel, Shirley Caesar has been as steady a performer as the genre has seen in recent years. This set collects various Christmas standards Caesar has recorded throughout her career, including poignant versions of "Angels We Have Heard on High," "O Holy Night," and "We Three Kings." The arrangements and instrumental backdrops aren't particularly unique, but with Caesar's stellar vocals, it hardly matters. ~ Steve Leggett
