While he emerged as a CCM star in the early 21st Century, Matt Maher bathes his inspirational music in the sort of upbeat glaze, the rolling brand of genre-amorphous rock with copious torrential hooks, that dominated 1980s music. On 2009 release ALIVE AGAIN, the singer-songwriter continues to combine pop, country, gospel, latter-day blues, soul, and even occasional flourishes of synth pop into a breezy, easy, reverent stew.
