Passionately uplifting and lyrically rich, the debut opus from Everman is a testament to hearts passionate for God. Lyrically, the band delves into many subjects, including those dealing with death ("I Will Remember You"); transforming grace ("Changing Me"); and the hurt of divorce ("Still Waiting"). The song deliveries are a grand statement. "Providence" features the richness of acoustics and a bass guitar that riffs its way through the cut while vocalist Brad Miles emotionally delivers on the tune. "You Are" -- produced by Peter Kipley of MercyMe and "I Can Only Imagine" fame -- states the magnificence of Christ as the band paints a musical canvas that has Number One written all over it. On "Carry Me," Everman pulls back for a power ballad that fills the senses, with acoustic guitars accented by the nuances of a well placed piano. While the disc does feature up-tempo statements, the band is also incredibly versed in slower cuts, where they wear their emotions on their sleeves. Songs like "Not Alone" and "Miracle" take the listener on a journey through righteousness, sincerity, and awe. Vocalist Brad Miles and guitarist Marcus Yoars are a formidable songwriting team, and each cut drips with lyrical and musical wonder. This album has the legs to take Record of the Year, and the band has the talent to continue the trend. ~ Steven Douglas Losey
