Oh for Joy, the first holiday album from the Dove Award-winning David Crowder Band, doesn't take any chances when it comes to material, but hearing Christmas mainstays like "Joy to the World," "The First Noel," "Silent Night," and "Angels We Have Heard on High" filtered through the Texas-based CCM outfit's winning blend of ambient gospel and ethereal electro-pop makes for a memorable listen. At a mere eight tracks, Oh for Joy feels a little more like an EP than a full-length modern yuletide offering, but the band approaches the familiar melodies with enough spirit and genuine creativity to make each moment count. ~ James Christopher Monger
