Shekinah Glory Ministry Redux: 10 Years of Praise & Worship Music

Chicagoland's Shekinah Glory Ministry is among the most popular units in contemporary religious music. As evidenced by their four previous albums, Praise Is What I Do, Live, Jesus, and Refreshed by Fire, this ensemble has always held an element of gospel classicism in their soulful, modern approach to worship music. They aren't a "choir" in the traditional sense, but a large group of psalmists, singers, musicians, dancers, and banner-wavers (as well as an inner unit of "encouragers"), who have come together to become a globally renowned entity. Shekinah Glory Ministry Redux celebrates the first ten years by compiling seven tracks from their album catalog as well as the exclusive "Revival," which was issued as a standalone single. Though eight tunes don't seem like a lot of music for the dough, the shortest of these numbers is over five minutes, while the longest -- closer "Jesus" -- is nearly twelve, with others clocking in at over seven and nine. As such, Redux contains what is arguably the very best music they've put on offer (though all of it is exceptionally worthwhile). Fans will need it just for "Revival," but for anyone at all interested in contemporary gospel worship music that doesn't know Shekinah Glory Ministry, this collection is an essential introduction. ~ Thom Jurek
